Josh and I would L-O-V-E to get a dog. In particular, I want a pug. However, Monday through Friday, we are gone from 7 am until 5 pm - 10 hours. At least 3 nights a week we go to the gym also, meaning even less time at home in the evenings. And, we are pretty active on the weekends. Thats a real bummer for a dog, let alone a puppy. I know people do it all the time - leave their dogs alone all day, but I just dont know how I weigh in on that one. Pugs are pretty lazy dogs, and they are small and dont require a lot of excercise. Still, all day in the cage, alone. What about potty breaks - neither of us would have time to run home at lunch and let the poor little guy out. So, at least for now, we feel like we can't have a dog. Do any of you full timers have dogs? If so, how does that work out? If you don't, but you are like me and want one, why don't you have one?

I had a PUggle (pug + beagle) for only a few months since 1) I was slightly allergic to her 2) she was alone ALL day and part of the night and I felt incredibly guilty 3) I wasn't quite ready to give up my weekends and 4)our personalitites didn't mesh - I need a chill dog not a hyper one. ;)
I felt incredibly bad about her being in a cage all day and assume that is why she was so crazy when she wasn't locked up. I say wait until you have more time to give...
