I think I've picked out my bridesmaids dresses (but in black, not the red). I think that the girls could potentially re-use these dresses for other occasions, and they are simple and pretty and my junior bridesmaid can have straps added to hers quite easily. The cost is about $150, so again, reasonable.
For my flowers, I am now thinking calla lilies in white. For the bridesmaids and all other flowers, pink calla lilies, to add some color. Also, I think the tuxes are going to be black, with black vests, black or pink ties, and a white shirt. Simple.
I think picking the cake is going to be terribly difficult, but I am considering having the pattern on my cake be the pattern from my grandmothers fancy china that my grandfather bought her early in their marraige (she is leaving it to me when she passes on, and it means a lot to me/her), so I thought that might be kind of a neat thing. We have a lady booked to do the cake, and, bonus, she only charges $1/slice. So, what I'm thinking of doing is having her make a cake for about 150-175 and then also getting a plain white sheetcake that will serve about 100 or so people ($35). I wont display the sheet cake, and I don't think anybody is gong to care or even know the difference. We'll just take the fancy pretty expensive cake into the back to cut/servie it out of the guests view.
Also, because I finally have time, Josh and I are going to look at invitations today after our dentist apts. Geez, its all finally coming together.
What we really need to start looking at now though, is our ceremony. If any of you have any awesome ideas (Stephie you mentioned you had/knew wehre to find things) - things you did/had done in your ceremony, including songs, passages, the message, the vows (we have to write it all from start to finish), please let me know! I think...wait, I know...this is going to be the hardest part!
