Brilliant Tricks

Wedding wise, things seem to be going well and things are falling into place.

Because our wedding is outside we 'need' to provide chairs for people. Originally we were thought about renting them for $1.97/chair plus $85/hour in labor. Then I decided that for that much money, people could just stand. My mom said that was tacky so I told her that we could have chairs under one condition - that they were free. Well, she pulled it off - our town hall has them available for free to residents. They are the normal grey color and we have to haul them and set them up and tear them down, but whatever, they are free, and the boys will end up doing all the work anyway. Hurray for free.

Transportation between the wedding and reception was a challenge. There is approximately two places with limos in da UP. They are both typical UP companies and don't answer their phones, and when you do get ahold of them, they give you answers like, 'we dont know how many limos we'll have at that time - we don't schedule out that far - call us back in June or July.' It was begining to look like we'd be in the back of a pickup truck, but then, by some miracle, The Bridal Gallery, where we are getting the bridesmaids dresses and the tuxes from, decided to purchase one. Donna (my moms bf's sister) works there and knew our dilema so she called right away. We now have a limo that seats 6 (PERFECT NUMBER!) for only $75/hour (and they don't have a time min, so we only rented it for 2 hours).

I've decided to scrap the candy jar idea. The more I looked into the more expensive my cheap idea got. So, I started looking for other options and I found out that Sams club does bulk flowers. $70 for 100 white and pink roses, delivered. We'll put them in clear vases that my mom is collecting from neighbors and relatives and tie a white ribbon around each for symmetry. Good enough. As for favors, Michael$ had coupons for 40% one item so I found a second coupon and then Josh and I headed there and picked up 200 small white candy boxes for a total of $24. The 8 bags of pink and white M&Ms that we already picked up will go inside them and I'll design some kind of sticker, print it out (at work, which ='s free) and stick it on the top. Good enough.

I still need shoes, and a veil, and all that business. And we haven't heard from the best man in ages (he doesnt have a phone). Oh, and I still need to convince Joshs dad to wear a tux - picking those out tonight, btw. And Laura needs to order her bridesmaid dress. And a million other things. Pish Posh, its summer and my yard is begining to look spectacular. :) My dad will be here this weekend to help us plant grass and landscape. Hurray.

I haven't bought my shoes yet either... And my dress fitting is in 2 weeks! I will probably be shoe shopping this weekend... I think I'm going to buy fun red shoes though! My bridesmaids dresses are red... and no one will be seeing my feet anyway... Yeah, I think I might go with fun red shoes :)

I also got my shoes from payless for $9.99. They hurt by the reception so I took them off. THere's only one rule at your wedding, "It's your wedding so you can do what you want!"

I got my veil and tiara on Ebay for about $20 each, but I know you can make a veil for less. Getting other people to do things was the hardest part for me. Family you can call up and boss around, fiancees friends are another story:)

I actually had a littel veil business for a while. I still have a few left - I just need to steam them, email me if you're interested, you can just have one.
