Friday night peeling wallpaper turned into demoing the wall that seperates our living room from our dining room. The wall had several flaws including 1 that it was significantly slanted and 2 was made of thin wood backing board on the dining room side. So, after tearing the wallpaper off we decided that the whole wall just needed to come down. So it did. And very messily, I might add...our new shop-vac is my savior! We closed off the bedrooms and bathroom, but the rest of the house was covered in thick white powder from Friday night until late yesterday, which made me crabby. Stupid me didnt realize that demoing was so messy! I honestly thought that when they did it on TV it was messy on purpose...you know, for the 'effect'. Not so much. But, now that the original wall is gone and the new overhead is put in it looks great. I was skeptical about whether or not I would like having the 'open floor plan' but I love it! It really opens things up and makes it feel bigger. We still have some wallpaper left because we discovered a second layer in the kitchen which will also need to come down. Bummer. I can't wait to see my house when it all comes together with a fresh coat of paint in the kitchen, living room and dining room, as well as on the kitchen cabinets. After those projects are done we are planning to get rid of the yucky vinyl in the kitchen and replace it with tile. Since this project didnt lead to a divorce, I think the others will go just fine....well, maybe the tile worries me, a little. :)
