Thinking Of Selling

*UPDATE* The house was absolutely horrid. No wonder its been on the market 260 days. Those pictures were taken VERY CREATIVELY! The house literally had a POND....INSIDE. YUCK!

Josh and are are contemplating putting our house on the market. I'm/we're nervous about it because of the way that the market is behaving - but that also lends itself to a bonus point - because the market is not doing well we can afford more house right now. I've requested a showing of a house in Metamora. Its 2240 square feet and has 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a two car garage. Thats more than double what we have right now - which is good because we are bursting at the seams! It was built in 1978 and has lots of updates. It also comes with a hot tub, has a huge deck, and a fenced yard, which are all nice bonuses. Its listed for 162,000 - but I'm positive I saw this house on the market several months ago when I was looking, so I will bet the price is highly negotiable. We'll have to see. Also, we dislike our neighbors, and apparently they don't much care for us either (none of them like our truck, some of them don't like that we are white, and I think some of them don't like that young people are moving into the neighborhood). That peeves Josh to no end, but I think its just funny! Especially since they wave and act friendly when they drive by but then talk about us to the other neighbors. Ha. The funniest part is, aside from one or two of them, we wouldnt recognize a single on of them in a crowd.

Very nice looking house, we've contemplated that too, since we could probably double our square footage also (and we need that with 2 kids), but it's so hard to sell in Detroit. We bought in such a seller's market, we'd lose at least $30K and I can't force myself to do that yet.

Keep us updated! That house looks great!

Good luck if you decide to sell. Since I just lost 20K on a sale, my advise to you is to price your home at what it's worth, not what you want to make. And don't expect to recoup realtor fees (and don't price the house on what you think it's worth + realtor fees... buyers totally see through it through neighborhood comps).

P.S. I have total envy of your Walgreens. We don't have one here.

Very fun! Are you using Jim Castle? If not and want to use our realtor, I HIGHLY recommend him! Mark Monge - www.markmonge.com He's wonderful.

Yeah for looking out here - we LOVE it as you already know :)
