On The Home Front

The Old House: It has been on the market for 2 weeks now and we’ve had three showings but no offers. Maybe it’s a little early to be saying this, but I am tired of the waiting game. I’m tired of waiting for my phone to ring for a showing, let alone an offer. I’m tired of having to keep the house absolutely perfect *just in case* somebody wants to see it while we are away at work. And I am tired of living there….well, I’m tired of the neighborhood and the creepy things that go on, really. Like last night….Josh and I went to Coldst0ne for some cake batter ice cream and then made a quick trip to S@m’s Club. We get home, and there is a strange man, sitting in a strange car that’s not running right in front of our house. On some streets this wouldn’t be odd, but on ours it is – this doesn’t happen. It’s pretty much a 1.5 lane short little dead end road off a busier street. Our street only has five houses on each side – the ten houses and the street all sit on what was originally one large lot for a mansion that burned down in the early 50’s. So, it’s not a street that just invites random cars. And the guy sat there for well over an hour. Stranger Danger!

The New House: I can’t wait to move in. I can’t wait to live in a small town. I can’t wait to have neighbors who *are hopefully* nice and friendly. I can’t wait to decide where I am going to put all of our stuff. I can’t wait to have a two stall garage. Probably the only thing besides the actual moving stuff part that I am not looking forward to is buying window blinds. Have you ever priced these things out?! Holy Geez! I cannot even believe how expensive custom order blinds are! We are looking into the generic in stock ones, but it doesn’t seem that they even come close to fitting our apparently oddly sized and oversized windows.

Every time I sell a house (ok, so it's only been two) I pray for the people who need it to find it - FAST! So far it's worked well :)

Blinds are super expensive - I wouldn't skimp, cheap ones look cheaper in a few years (UV rays are not forgiving). Just do a few rooms right now and put up shears and cheap drapes in the remaining rooms.
