Whats New

Trip to Michigan: Was great, but not long enough. We drove up Friday and then had my moms surprise party that night. She was really surprised and everybody had a great time. On Saturday we went to my grandparent’s house and ate a yummy dinner and just hung out with the family. I always have such a good time with my mom, grandma, and aunts – lots of laughing. For the most part, the men always congregate in the living room and watch whatever sport is in season and the women hang out in the kitchen (near the food haha). On a side note, it snowed briefly and my mom’s on Saturday afternoon! On Sunday we drove back and made a stop on Oshkosh at the outlet mall. We scored a few really good deals at Eddie B@uer, J0ckey, and B@ss. We mostly shopped for Josh because, like most men, he refuses to buy things for himself (such as white t’s, underwear, and socks) for extended periods of time and then I finally get to the point where I have to force him to spend money. Sunday was one of those days.

The House: I got the HUD statement at 4:30 last night. I waited in the parking lot at the bank, on hold with the people until they gave it to me. The sod was laid yesterday and they also apparently took care of everything on our punch list. We’ll see if they really finished it all when we do the walk through this afternoon. When we saw it Sunday night the third bathroom still needed quite a bit of work and our punch list was pretty extensive. I’m sure we’ll close regardless, but it would be nice not to have to deal with setting up times for the contractors to come back to complete the work.

Packing: Our house is almost bare outside of our furniture, clothes, and day to day appliances. I know it is still a lot, but 95% of our ‘stuff’ is already either in our cars to move today or packed into the storage unit to move later this week. I don’t think we’re going to tackle the furniture this weekend. There will be so much else to do, like hooking up our new washer and dryer, putting in the mailbox, hooking up electronics, etc and generally unpacking. I don’t want to kill ourselves trying to do it as fast as possible when we really don’t need to be out until the end of May.

Hope moving goes well. Can't wait to see pics once you are all moved in and you have your finishing touches on everything.

I definitely agree that it is better to have everything finished prior to moving in. When we built our home, we had to deal with a few contractors after we moved in and it is a pain.
