Lately I haven't had a whole lot to blog about. Josh and I have been laying low, just hanging out around the house, staying out of the heat. We haven't really done a whole lot lately. Melissa & Justin were out of town, and whenever that happens our social calendar becomes far less active!
Work has been busy for both of us, making the days fly by. I'm currently working on a Request For Project Approval that is intended for the Logistics Division Pres. and the company CEO. The deadline is somewhat unrealistic and its a huge task even under normal circumstances. Needless to say, I am very stressed about it, but it is coming along nicely.
Last Saturday Jen & Dan had their house warming/welcome Lincoln/promotion party. We had a great time and ate lots of great food (minus the venison burger....Dan, you will never fool me!) and it was so nice to finally see their new house and spend some time with them. Thanks for having us over, Jen & Dan! We need to do it more often!
We are still planning on having everybody over to see our new house before the end of fall! I still don't even have anything on my walls, though. Decorating my new house just seems to keep to evading me. I don't really have a 'vision' for any of the rooms yet and don't want to jump into anything. I think our house looks generic. Maybe I'll get some ambition soon and then we can have people over in September. Fall is our favorite season anyway, plus then it wont be so bloody hot! I'm sick of the oppressive heat/humidity!
In other news, Josh and I are going to look at elliptical machines tonight. I've been really wanting one for awhile because I hate going to the gym (I just can't make myself make the effort to actually go). But I know I need to get in shape and take responsibility for my own health management. And I don't mind working out, if it is convenient - i.e. I can do it in my family room and catch up on my tivo shows! Any advice on what types to look for or stay away from, good/bad brands or models, etc? I'm open to any advice anybody wants to give me. We haven't really set a price point - the $1,250-$1,500 are ULTRA nice, but I am fairly certain we will only be spending about half that amount.
And speaking of healthy stuff - I've been really interested in the Glycemic Index lately. I think its really interesting and I can totally see the benefits. Following it, though, is another story. Most of the GI food lists I find only have simple foods - an apple, celery sticks, pasta - but very few complex foods like things you would cook or order in a restaurant. I mean, I guess I get the point, so I can sort of consider it when making food choices, but definitely not to an extreme.
This month is looking somewhat busy for Josh and I. August 14-17th we'll be in the UP, August 23rd Melissa and I are going to a concert in Tinley Park, and the following weekend is Labor Day Wknd and were preliminarily planning a camping trip to Southern Illinois with Sandy & Evan, and Rob, Melissa and Justin. :) My major concern right now is that all of the camping grounds I've look at are FCFS - no reservations. I'm afraid we'll show up Friday night or Saturday morning and not be able to find spots. That would be such a bummer.
I'm having a hard time grasping the fact that it is already August 5th. I feel like I've been standing still for the last two months, while everything around me is in super speed. I just don't know where the time went. I can't believe that next week Josh and I are heading back up to spread my dads ashes and finalize everything. Two months ago this felt so far away, like it might never get here. Probably because I didn't want it to. But it will be nice to see my family again and just get that 'first trip back' anxiety over with.
Well, that's about it. Back to researching for the RFPA!
