Michigan Trip

Josh and I had a great long weekend in Michigan.

Saturday: We cut firewood with Josh's parents all day. Since they supplement their propane heat with a woodstove, its a lot of work to get enough wood to last through the winter. It was a lot of work, but nice to spend the day with them, outside enjoying the beautiful weather. After we finished that up, we took showers and rested for a little while, then we had a huge bonfire and made smores. I managed to burn my finger on the metal smore stick, but otherwise, it was a nice night.

Sunday: Hung out and visited with Kell, Donna, and Larry most of the morning. We took a trip to Greenville and had lunch and shopped at Meijer. Later that afternoon we headed to Josh's aunt Michelle and uncle Randy's house for his cousin Sarah's 8th birthday party. She got an American Girl doll (her first, and not from us!) which, for an 8 year old, is the about the best gift in the world! It was nice to spend time with *almost* the whole family - that doesn't happen often. Heres a few pictures from the party:

Monday: Hung out and visited again, and had a lazy morning and afternoon. We took Josh's parents out to dinner at a steakhouse in Grand Rapids. We had a really nice time. We don't get to spend enough time with them, so its nice to just sit down, relax, and have a good meal when we do.

Tuesday: Met my brother in Kalamazoo for lunch at The OG. It was really good to see him - he might be getting promoted and transfered to Hong Kong in the next few months! If so, I know where we are taking our 2009 vacation! He's a little nervous about it and doesnt know if he wants to leave his girlfriend, who has a year left at Tech. I told him to go - its the opportunity of a lifetime! I'll keel you posted as to how things progress. After lunch we went to see his apartment and then made the rest of the drive home. We spent the night unpacking and relaxing before heading back to work today.

This weekend: We'll be putting up our new storm door and planting the 3 HUGE oak trees we bought 2 weekends ago. Then for a little added excitement, I might clean the house. We have such an exciting life! I have a lot I want to get done before winter, and before we go to Disney in 2 weeks, so we're actually pretty busy around the house.
