Things to Be Thankful For

1. Job Security. While so many Americans are losing their jobs, Josh and I are fortunate enough to work for a company that is weathering this economic downturn well. On that note, I accepted a new job today. As previously mentioned, my boss is moving on to lead a new group that will be formed soon. She asked me to come with her, and I am. I’m really excited about the opportunity (and about the raise!), but sad to be leaving my group. I work with great people, and it will be hard to leave.

2. We have a whole week off for Thanksgiving. While it will be nice to be home, it will be bittersweet, as it will be the last time I ever ‘go home’ to the house I grew up in.

3. Gas prices are currently $1.83 here in central Illinois. I never thought I’d see gas under $2/gallon again in my lifetime, so this is certainly a pleasant surprise.

4. I’m done Christmas shopping except for Josh’s gift. Truth be told, it’s a gift card Christmas, but whatever, I’m done.

5. We went to Meijer in Bloomington on Saturday. I love Meijer.

6. I just started week three of the Six Week Body Makeover. It’s hard, but I love it. I’ve lost 7 pounds in two weeks. Its amazing how good I feel and how much more energy I have when I eat six small meals a day of veggies, lean protein, fruit and light carbs like rice and potatoes. It also amazes me how terrible ‘bad for me food’ makes me feel now. We went to dinner on Saturday in Bloomington and I ordered a basil pasta dish. It tasted fabulous but all the carbs and fat made me feel awful, and ultimately it probably wasn't worth it.

7. My sister successfully completed her 9 month rehab program and came home a week ago today. She’s doing really well. I hope she makes it this time.

8. I have a clean house! We cleaned on Saturday – it was well over-due. A clean house makes me feel so happy.

9. I cooked a turkey on Saturday morning and it turned our fabulous!

10. I love love love my Wii Fit. It really motivates me to work out since it measures your progress (on charts and graphs no less – which I love!) And its not even like working out – its like a fun game.
