Good Deeds

There is a young girl (19) at work that just had a baby. She just graduated from high school this spring. Long story short, both sets of parents refuse to speak to them since she got pregnant. They are broke, young, and I'm sure, scared. Everybody in my office is trying to help them out - bringing in gifts, donating money, etc. Josh and I put together two large boxes full of 'personal necessities' for them that should last about six months or so - toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, razors, shaving cream, deodorant, Tylenol, soap, etc. We also picked them up a 264 pack of Huggies diapers and a 720 pack of wipes from S@ms Club. We don't really have a whole lot of cash to spare this month with the wedding just behind us and the honeymoon just ahead, but it felt good to do something really nice for somebody else...especially somebody less fortunate. Its easy to get caught up our own situation and life, and this really put things into perspective for us. I think its important to take a step back every now and again and see just how blessed we really are.

What an excellent good deed! Mark and I are going shopping for the Books & Backpacks drive we're having at work, which I'm excited for! I loved getting new school supplies!

Good for you. I'm sure they appreciate it. 264 diapers is not small potatoes!
